Great Summer Activities for the Whole Family
With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start planning some fun outdoor activities to help make the most of the gorgeous weather. Whether it’s hanging out with your children or inviting your friends out, here are a couple of excellent summer activities that will inspire your own plans.
Friendly Neighbour Barbeques
Summer is a great excuse to get outside, but you don’t need to go far in order to find some excellent entertainment. You could just head out into your backyard and throw an awesome barbeque for your neighbour, friends and family members. Ask everyone to bring something of their own (such as some ingredients or a game) and it’ll make the barbeque that much more special. Try to plan it on a weekend where everyone is free and propose your plans at least a week in advance to give everyone notice.
Outdoor Sports With Friends and Family
Why not head out to your nearest park and go play some sports? Pick up a football from a local sports store and you can kick it around with a group of people. You could set up friendly matches, or even participate in a casual summer league. If you’re lucky to live nearby a leisure centre, then they might even have tennis courts and other facilities that you could use for some outdoor sporting fun. If you prefer to just stay at home, then you could always invest in some home equipment like a basketball net so you can play in your own backyard. If you want something more relaxed, then consider going for bike rides together with your family.
Embrace Nature and Go Camping
One of the best outdoor activities you could engage in is camping. It’s brilliant fun with friends and family and it’s a great way to explore nature and embrace a different side of the world. Camping is your opportunity to experience something completely unique and different, especially if you’re accustomed to living in the city with noisy cars and busy streets. You could look for a campsite nearby and drive out there with your friends and family. All you generally need is some camping supplies such as a tent, sleeping bags, a portable stove and some spare change of clothes. Camping can be done over several days, or it could just be a one-night activity if you live close to a campsite. Alternatively, if you don’t want to go too far then you can take your kids into the backyard and camp there instead.
Summer Scavenger Hunts
If you love a little mystery then why not participate in a scavenger hunt? You could create your own one and have friends, family and work colleagues follow your clues to find something special that you’ve prepared. Alternatively, you can work together and participate in city-wide scavenger hunts that could take place in parks and museums. It’s a fantastic activity that stimulates both your body and mind, and it allows you to explore the city you live in.
